It's Hard To Dance with the Devil on your back...So Shake Him Off

I am done with my graceless heart
So tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart
Cause I like to keep my issues strong
It's always darkest before the dawn

They scored with this one Rhythm, Lyrics, Video. I'm inspired!

House Music All Night Long

Went out last night and the DJ killed it with a section of South African House music. I was all over him to give me the tunes. Here's one...he's meant to hook me up with a CD of tracks before I leave. I need these in my life for class!

Enjoy!

Still Bill

What a lovely smile!

I've been trying to catch this documentary for a few years and it's FINALLY on Netflix. Bill Withers' spirit is irreverent. You learn alot about humility, perseverance and pure joy. I also learned that Bill Withers wrote soo many songs we hear these days. Bill began his music career in his mid-thirties-something that isn't common these days.

If you are in need of a little inspiration, I encourage you to check out Still Bill, and maybe watch it a second and third time...like me!

"I would like to know how it feels for my desperation to get louder."
-Bill Withers

Lupe Fiasco

Lupe is one of those artists that literally brings tears to my eyes. He has an amazing ability to capture everything I feel & think in his music and he'll put it out there with so much heart. I've been waiting a long time for this new album and Lasers doesn't disappoint. He goes there, politically, emotionally and doesn't shun in the vulnerability category. Shame on Atlantic for almost dropping him, but good for us that he's come out BLAZING!

"Failure is my last name, never's my first one."

"They said my future was dark, see me now
Just look around, I'm beaming"

Come to see...Victory... in a land called Fantasy

This was hands down, the hit of class yesterday. I had a good playlist but when this song came on, people smiled, got into it, dug deeper and rolled like crazy...on a stationary bike. It's not a long song at 4:35. However, it is a busy song. And usually with songs where there is a lot of movement and changes (on the bike) I cut the songs early. But following the energy of the room, I knew I couldn't touch this one. The class stepped up, the choreography was in sync and the heads were bopping. Damn I love spin!
