A Poem for Mr. G & Ms. C
I can see your tears
Familiar tears
Tears I know too well.
The person you want to be
Is crying for the person you are
And you can't navigate the shift
I've been there
At times, I'm still there
In the midst of a pain entitled fear
It swallows you like a Villain
Forces you to marry into the idea that this is all you'll ever be
And the torture is multiplied
The intoxicating feeling that your light at the end of the tunnel has gone dim.
You stack it with irrational choices
Followed by a flood of guilt
The person you want to be
Is crying for the person you are
I was there
Until I chose to choose differently
It takes work
Do the work
Commit to your self-worth.
A sincere desire to live a better life
Try forgiveness
Self-forgiveness
There you'll find the hope you've been craving
Your time has come
Your moment is now
Your light still has a spark
I know
Because I've tasted the freedom of the other side
And it is sweet.
But it takes work
Here's my hand...
Let's work together.
